Packaging Artwork & Global Brand Implementation
My Role
Senior Graphic Designer
Deliverables
Packaging Artwork • Brand Implementation • Artwork Production • Version Management • Production Coordination
The Challenge
Working with established global consumer brands requires a different kind of design discipline. The work must remain faithful to existing brand standards while accommodating product variations, markets, formats, technical requirements, revisions, and production realities. For Bacardi, the focus was on translating approved brand direction into accurate, production-ready packaging artwork across multiple products and applications.
My Role
My role focused on packaging artwork development and production implementation within established global brand guidelines. I translated approved brand direction into accurate packaging artwork across products and variants, managing revisions, versioning, technical requirements, and production-related details. The work required balancing visual consistency with the specific requirements of each product and packaging format.
Brand Implementation
The challenge was not to reinvent the established brands. It was to translate approved visual direction accurately across different products, formats, and packaging requirements. Consistency became a critical part of the design process: maintaining typography, color, imagery, hierarchy, and other brand elements while adapting artwork to the specific requirements of each package.
Multiple products and variants demonstrate how established brand standards were maintained across a range of packaging applications.
Packaging Applications
The following examples demonstrate how approved brand direction was translated into finished packaging across different products and formats.
Cazadores Blanco — label artwork developed and applied to the finished 750ml bottle.
Drambuie — coordinated neck and bottle label artwork applied to the finished 750ml package.
Bacardi Superior — three-color carton artwork developed for the finished packaging application.
From Approved Direction to Production
Packaging design doesn't end when the visual direction is approved. Artwork must be adapted to product variations, reviewed through revisions and approvals, and prepared for the technical requirements of production. The process requires attention to detail while maintaining consistency across related packaging applications. Working within established global brands requires precision as much as creativity. The responsibility is to protect the integrity of the visual system while ensuring the final artwork works in the real world.
What the Work Required
Packaging rarely exists as a single, isolated execution. Different products, sizes, formats, labels, cartons, and market requirements introduce variation while still requiring the overall brand to remain recognizable and consistent. The work requires careful management of artwork versions, revisions, specifications, approvals, and production requirements, while adapting each execution to the needs of the product. The goal is to maintain the integrity of the established brand while ensuring each piece of artwork is accurate, consistent, and ready for production. Strong packaging implementation protects the brand while making the artwork work in the real world.
Production-Ready Brand Expression
The work translated established Bacardi brand direction into accurate, production-ready packaging across multiple products and variations.
The experience demonstrates the ability to work at the intersection of brand consistency, design execution, technical detail, and production reality.
