Brand Refresh & Visual Identity System
Overview
Watson Realty Corp. needed a refreshed visual identity that modernized the brand while preserving its long-standing recognition in the real estate market.
The challenge was to evolve the brand system without losing the equity of its existing identity, while improving consistency across recruiting, marketing, and corporate communications.
The Challenge
The existing brand system relied on a two-color logo and inconsistent visual applications across marketing materials.
The goal was to modernize the brand by introducing a more flexible and scalable visual system that could work across multiple channels and audiences, including corporate and recruiting initiatives.
My Role
As one of two designers on the brand refresh initiative, I developed a complete creative direction that was selected by the marketing leadership and approved by executive stakeholders as the foundation for the refreshed visual identity system.
I was responsible for the development of supporting brand elements, visual systems, and multi-channel applications.
The Approach
Rather than redesigning the logo, I focused on building a supporting visual system that could extend and strengthen the existing brand identity.
This included:
Creating custom visual motifs inspired by regional geography
Developing pattern systems based on the “W” letterform
Introducing a secondary brand color for expanded flexibility
Designing distinct corporate and recruiting visual directions
Building scalable design assets for multi-channel use
The Solution
The system included:
Business cards and stationary
Presentation folder
For-sale yard signage
Social media templates
Recruiting materials
Branded digital assets
Environmental and promotional applications
Promotional and marketing collateral
As part of the identity, I also designed a commemorative Watson brand badge featuring a stylized “W” enclosed within a circular seal, creating a flexible brand element for internal communications, environmental graphics, and promotional applications.
Outcome
The refreshed identity was implemented across marketing, recruiting, corporate communications, and physical brand touchpoints, resulting in a more cohesive and contemporary visual presence while maintaining the company’s established brand equity.
One of the project’s most successful outcomes was the Watson brand badge, which was enthusiastically embraced by executive leadership and expanded well beyond its original scope. The badge became a signature element used throughout office environments, internal branding, and a wide range of branded merchandise, demonstrating the flexibility and longevity of the new visual system.
The project established a scalable brand framework that continues to support Watson Realty Corp.’s communications across print, digital, environmental, and promotional channels.
