Top Producers Recognition System
Creating a scalable recognition system that reduced production turnaround time by 67% while maintaining a consistent, professional brand experience.
The Challenge
Top Producers recognition was a recurring monthly communication produced using an established template. The format included both Salespersons of the Month and Listers of the Month within the same overall communication. Although the template provided consistency from month to month, the combined structure created a more complex and time-intensive production process as producer names, locations, recognition categories, portraits, and other information changed. The opportunity was to improve the existing system rather than replace a layout. The redesign simplified the visual structure, separated the two recognition categories, and created a more efficient framework for recurring monthly production.
From a Combined Format to an Efficient System
The redesign treated Top Producers as an existing recurring communication system that could be improved rather than reinvented from scratch. The original monthly format combined Salespersons of the Month and Listers of the Month in a single communication. The redesigned system separated these recognition categories, giving each group clearer focus while establishing a more efficient structure for recurring production. The result preserved the consistency of the monthly template while making the content easier to organize, update, and produce. This improved production model reduced turnaround time by 67%.
System Structure
Separate recognition formats for Salespersons of the Month and Listers of the Month
One recognition category at a time
Simplified header structure
Stronger typographic hierarchy
Consistent circular portrait treatment
Increased whitespace
Standardized name and location treatment
Restrained supporting branding
Consistent footer and contact information
The design decisions reduced unnecessary variation and simplified the monthly production process while preserving the established recognition program.
Simplifying the Recognition Experience
The redesign refined an established monthly recognition template by separating Salespersons of the Month and Listers of the Month into clearer, more focused communications. This reduced competing information within a single layout and gave each recognition category greater visual emphasis. The new structure also made the system easier to update and reproduce as producer information changed month to month.
Redesigned System
The redesigned format separates recognition categories, gives each group greater visual emphasis, and establishes a more efficient structure for recurring monthly communications.
My Role
I redesigned the Top Producers visual format and developed the underlying structure for recurring production. My responsibilities included visual system development, template design, hierarchy, brand consistency, production workflow, and adaptation for campaign‑specific communications. The work went beyond redesigning a single piece; the goal was to create a system that could be reused without reinventing the layout each time.
Built to Repeat
A recurring communication system must distinguish between what stays consistent and what changes. The original Top Producers format already provided a repeatable monthly template. The redesign improved that foundation by separating the recognition categories and establishing a clearer relationship between the fixed visual framework and the information that changes each month.

Designed to Adapt
The recognition system was flexible enough to support campaign-specific brand moments. For Watson Realty Corp.’s 60th anniversary, the format was adapted to incorporate the anniversary identity, updated color treatment, and campaign-specific messaging while preserving the underlying recognition structure. The framework remained recognizable even as the campaign’s expression changed.
The 60th Anniversary adaptation introduced campaign-specific branding while preserving the structure of the recognition system.
Recognition in Practice
The resulting system created a more consistent recognition experience while remaining flexible enough to support recurring producer communications and campaign-specific variations. The three stages show the progression clearly:
A Recognition System Designed for Scale
Proofread: The redesigned Top Producers system reduced production turnaround time by 67% while creating a more consistent and professional recognition experience. More importantly, the project transformed a recurring design task into a repeatable visual system—one that can accommodate changing content and campaign needs without requiring the underlying layout to be reinvented each time. The project demonstrates how thoughtful design can improve both the quality of communication and the process used to produce it.
